Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Telangana government is afraid to celebrate Telangana Liberation Day.
He said the Centre celebrated Telangana Liberation Day formally last year. He made it clear that they will celebrate the Telangana Liberation Day officially this year too.
Addressing a gathering after unveiling the statue of Sardar Vallabhai Patel in the Garota village in Karnataka on Sunday, Amit said that many people sacrificed their lives to attain freedom for Hyderabad state. Hyderabad would not have got freedom if there was no Sardar Patel and added that Bidar also would not have got freedom.
Praising the sacrifices of Garota village, Amit said the cruel army of Nizam killed Garota villagers for hoisting a 2.5 feet tall Indian flag. He said that they constructed a martyrs’ statue in the same village.
“Nizam’s army killed hundreds of people in Garota just because they hoisted the Indian national flag. It is a proud moment that we are hoisting the 103 feet height national flag now on the same soil and this will not escape anyone’s attention, he said.
He said that a statue of Sardar Patel, the first Home Minister of the country, was installed to remember the role he played in removing the Nizam from Hyderabad. He said that Bidar become a part of India due to Sardar Patel.
