BRS govt dependent on sales of liquor, public lands: NVSS

Telangana State BJP Vice-President NVSS Prabhakar met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday and discussed various issues including the financial situation of the state.

Prabhakar, accompanied by G. Manohar Reddy, met the FM in her Rajya Sabha office and discussed the financial situation and the wrong economic policies of the state government.
He also apprised her about how the Telangana government is totally dependent on liquor sale and disposal of government lands to increase revenue and is diverting Central funds allotted for the development of rural areas.

Prabhakar also brought to the attention of the Finance Minister that Central funds meant for development projects like Avas Yojna, Sadak Yojna and Smart City are being misused.
Finance Commission funds sent to local bodies are being diverted for paying the electricity bills of panchayats and disbursement of salaries to panchayat staff, he said.

He informed the FM that the state government failed to allot its share of funds for Centrally-sponsored development schemes resulting in the education and health sector getting affected.

Prabhakar also called on the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, and apprised him about the inconvenience being caused to the people of Uppal due to the inordinate delay in completing the Uppal Elevated Corridor.

He informed the Union Minister that the TS government is deliberately delaying the project although the Centre has released funds for the purpose.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said the Cherlapalli Railway terminal work is in the final stage and that the work will be completed in another two months. It would be the largest terminal in Telangana and Prime Minister Modi is likely to inaugurate it, the Minister told Prabhakar when he met him in his Parliament office here.

Prabhakar also brought to the notice of Ashwini Kumar the demand of the people of Puttparthi to stop the Secunderabad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express at the Puttaparti Railway Station and the Railway minister gave a positive response.

Prabhakar, who is here to discuss TS issues with Union Ministers, met Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goel also.
