BRS govt left power sector in neck-deep debts, says Bhatti

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the BRS government threw the power sector into neck-deep debts and pending bills.
He said that the BRS rulers mortgaged future generations by contracting debts indiscriminately and that there is a need to move forward with a plan keeping future needs in mind.
Bhatti examined the BTPC Power Plant on Saturday at Manuguru from a helicopter. Later,
speaking at a meeting arranged with power department engineers, Bhatti said that he had made field level visits to reveal facts to the people.
He said that the Congress government released a white paper on debts owed by the BRS government.The DCM said that the BRS government should have used supercritical technology to prevent environmental pollution but instead, it used subcritical technology at the BTPC resulting in a price rise in raw materials and environmental issues.
He said that information about debts contracted during the BRS government is very concerning.
He said that the previous government took loans in the name of Yadadri and Bhadradri power plants. Rs 28,842 crore dues have to be paid by the government to distribution companies and the total debt is Rs.1,10,358 crore, Bhatti said.
He said that future generations were held hostage for supplying electricity continuously for 24 hours.He said that Rs 30,406 crore was spent for power purchase, power arrears to SCCL is Rs 19,431 crore, money owed to Genco is Rs 9,743 crore and the power purchase arrears is Rs 59,580.
