Congress Kisan Cell Vice-President M. Kodanda Reddy said that the BRS government abolished GO No: 111 to protect the interests of BRS leaders.

He said that most of the lands covered by GO No: 111 were encroached on by BRS leaders illegally and they were constructing multi-storeyed buildings.

Addressing the media at the Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Kodanda said that 84 villages with 25,000 families came under GO No.111.

He said that the government did not take the opinion of the public and farmers before scrapping GO No: 111.

He said that the committee appointed by TPCC President Revanth Reddy had conducted a field study and had prepared a report and submitted it to him. Kodanda, who was chairman of the committee, said that they had met all sections of people and collected comprehensive information.

He said that they had prepared their report to protect the reservoirs, lakes and local farmers.

He said that the Nizam had constructed joint reservoirs to protect Hyderabad from floods. In fact, drinking water is being supplied from these reservoirs, he said.

Due to BRS leaders’ land grabs the people of Hyderabad are going to lose drinking water supply from these two reservoirs, he pointed out.

“We will announce our future course of action after the report is examined by the TPCC President,” he said.
