The BRS launched a WhatsApp Helpline for crop loan waiver issues. Telangana Bhavan has set up a WhatsApp helpline (8374852619) for farmers to report loan waiver issues. Two experts will be available to assist unresolved cases and take it up with the government.
At a media conference held at the Telangana Bhavan, former minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy, MLA KP Vivekanand and BRS leader Ibrahim discussed the confusion surrounding the loan waivers promised by the Congress government.
They highlighted that the promises of the Congress government, such as Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bharosa remain unfulfilled, leaving farmers and women in the lurch with unmet expectations of Rs 2,500 and Rs 4,000 pensions respectively.
Niranjan asked why the Congress government had not discussed Rythu Bharosa in the cabinet or announced it in the Assembly. He accused the Congress of misleading farmers with partial loan waivers and making hollow promises for votes.
The Congress claimed they would waive loans of Rs 2 lakh by December 9, Initially, it stated Rs 40,000 crore, later reduced it to Rs 31,000 crore and finally waiving only Rs 6,000 crore for 11.20 lakh farmers.
Niranjan emphasized the disparity in the number of farmers benefiting from the loan waiver, contrasting it with the larger numbers supported under the BRS government’s initiatives.
He also criticized the Congress for releasing numerous advertisements about loan waivers without substantial implementation.
KP Vivekanand echoed these sentiments, criticizing the Congress for avoiding discussions on crucial farmer support schemes in the Assembly.
He pointed out that promises of Rs 2 lakh loan waivers by August 15 remain unfulfilled and accused the Congress of deceiving both farmers and the public.
