BRS MLAs who are facing election petitions and cases are pending against them in the courts were given tickets. As many as 30 BRS MLAs are facing election petitions regarding suppressing facts pertaining to their assets, criminal cases, educational qualifications and others in their affidavits submitted to the Election Commission of India during the previous elections.

It may be recalled that the Telangana High Court declared that Vanama Venkateswar Rao’s election as Kothagudem MLA was null and void for submitting false affidavits to the Election Commission. Vanama was elected as Congress MLA defeating the BRS candidate Jalagam Venkat Rao in the previous Assembly elections.

Later, Vanama joined the BRS along with some other Congress MLAs. However, the BRS leadership has given a ticket to him in the upcoming Assembly elections.

BRS Minister and Dharmapuri MLA Koppula Eswar is also facing allegations. Recently, the Telangana High Court conducted a hearing and EVM strong rooms were opened in Dharmapuri Assembly constituency. Congress candidate A Laxman Kumar who lost the election by just 440 votes filed a case against Minister Eswar.

The allegation of Laxman Kumar on Minister Eswar is that he won the election by resorting to fraudulent means. Though the court verdict is expected in a few days,t the BRS leadership has given Assembly ticket to Eswar from Dharmapuri.

Janagaon BRS MLA Muthireddy Yadagiri Reddy is also facing charges. The BRS leadership has kept the ticket for this seat pending along with three other seats in deciding the candidates. Except two or three, almost all the BRS MLAs who are facing charges in the courts were given Assembly tickets to contest in the upcoming Assembly elections. Court cases and election petitions did not come in their way to these MLAs in getting Assembly tickets again.

The BRS leadership also did not take these cases seriously while deciding their candidature to contest in the forth-coming Assembly elections.BRS MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh from Vemulawada is also facing a court case about his citizenship. While the cases are in pending in the court the BRS leadership has given the ticket to a new face in place of Ramesh.
