BRS leaders uncertain about role in national politics

Confusion prevails among BRS leaders over the role they will play in the party. BRS leaders said that so far Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has not held discussions on roles and responsibilities. Except for MLC Kavitha, even in KCR’s family, Harish and KTR’s roles are yet to be defined.

A senior party leader said, “My role in the BRS and national politics will be decided by the Chief Minister. Individuals will have their own preferences. Even I have my own hopes. But ultimately we have to stick to the party agenda.”

BRS leaders said that many leaders are saying that they are happy in their constituency and state. Sources in the party said, “KTR is not making any statements on the BRS or national foray. Even Harish Rao recently confirmed in an interview that the CM didn’t discuss his role and that he is happy to be in his constituency and state.” When Kavitha was asked about her role in the BRS, she also said, “Whatever our party president decides.”

Sources said that Kavitha is going to play a key role in national politics and she is already connecting with people. In KCR’s family, Kavitha and Santosh have an advantage through their initiatives Telangana Jagruthi and Green India Challenge.

“Jagruthi is already in Maharashtra and it is in tune with the BRS vision of expanding there. Name any party, she will have connections including the Congress. During her tenure as MP, she travelled with a lot of women parliamentarians. But with the Delhi liquor scam, even though she has not been named it will be a disadvantage,” sources said.

Whatever it is BRS leaders keep saying that the BJP’s attacks on them are due to KCR deciding to go national. All BRS leaders say, “We have to abide by the party diktat irrespective of our wishes.”
