Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao and senior party leaders participated in the birth anniversary celebrations of Bharat Ratna and former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.
KTR praised PV Narasimha Rao as an intellectual who drew the world’s attention with his extraordinary intelligence and multilingual prowess. He emphasised that PV, as a poet, storyteller, intellectual, and reformist, will always be remembered in history and by the nation. He noted that as long as India exists, the people will remember his name. He highlighted that PV was the first person from South India to lead the country as Prime Minister, taking charge when the country was on the brink of economic collapse and transforming the economic landscape of India, marking a clear before-and-after in India’s economic history.
KTR also mentioned that PV Narasimha Rao brought in a non-political economist as the Finance Minister and initiated remarkable economic reforms. Despite his proficiency in 16 languages, he sometimes governed with silence as his language. PV began crucial land reforms by donating his 800-acre family land to the government and made invaluable contributions to education by establishing Navodaya and Gurukula schools.
KTR remarked that there are not enough words to describe PV, who was a perpetual student, learning computer skills even at the age of 80. He is an inspiration to all our lives. The Telangana people’s aspiration and the BRS government’s request for the Bharat Ratna award for PV Narasimha Rao was fulfilled, and KTR thanked the central government for this recognition. He added that PV led a government successfully for five years and that, on behalf of the party, they celebrated his centenary with great respect, organizing grand celebrations not only in the country but also with the Indian diaspora abroad. The Necklace Road at Tank Bund has been renamed in his honor, and a magnificent statue has been installed. KTR demanded that the central government include PV Narasimha Rao’s life in the national curriculum. Surabhi Vani Devi, in her comments, extended best wishes on the birth anniversary of PV Narasimha Rao. She acknowledged that even in times when Telangana was considered backward, PV emerged as a great intellectual, political strategist, and remarkable leader who steered the country through crises. She emphasized that the Bharat Ratna award to PV Narasimha Rao and the nation’s recognition of his services is an honor for all of Telangana. Surabhi Vani Devi also noted that at a time when society might forget such a great man, KCR organized grand centenary celebrations, highlighting PV’s greatness and fame once again to the world. On behalf of PV’s family, she extended heartfelt thanks to KCR.
