BRS scouting for office in Bhubaneswar

Must read

The BRS is scouting for an office in Bhubaneshwar to intensify its moves in Odisha. Highly placed sources said that the party is searching for offices in Nagpur and Bhubaneshwar and some other places too so that office bearers can sit and carry forward the party’s day-to-day functioning.

This comes at a time when Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik quashed talk of his BJD joining a ‘third front’ of opposition parties to challenge the BJP and Prime Minister Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

“There is no possibility of a ‘third front’ as far as I am concerned,” he said after meeting Modi in New Delhi on Thursday.

In January, former Odisha Chief Minister and nine-time MP, Giridhar Gamang, his wife Hema, son Sishir and a dozen political and farmer leaders from Odisha joined the BRS in Hyderabad. However, after that activity at the Odisha end has been less.

“The party is functioning. It may not be reported in Telangana but it is going on in other states. Many junior leaders are joining the BRS and lots of things are happening,” BRS sources said.

The BRS is planning to set up its farmer units, women’s wings and youth and student wings in neighbouring states.

In January, Sishir Gamang said, “Odisha needs development. Our BRS will contest in all the 147 MLA and 21 MP seats in Odisha in the next election.”

Recently, KCR inaugurated the New Delhi office of the BRS. It was a low-key affair and not many national leaders attended it. Now, the BRS is looking for an office in Mumbai. The identification of buildings for the party’s offices in Pune, Nagpur and Sambajinagar (Aurangabad) is also underway.
