BRS to highlight Guv, bifurcation issues

The Bharat Rashtra Samiti has decided to raise issues concerning the proposed Uniform Civil Code, Manipur violence, and the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act2014 as well as pending projects during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament.

BRS Lok Sabha party leader and Khammam Parliament Member Nama Nageswara Rao made it clear in a statement on Wednesday that BRS would hold extensive debate in Parliament and question the Center on various issues.

He said that,during the all-party meeting on Wednesday, the Centerwas requested to discuss certain issues.

He said that they would protest during Parliament sessions on the issue of Uniform Common Civil Code and Manipur.

Nama Nageswara Rao wanted the Prime Minister to make a statement on the Manipur riots. He sought a discussion on the issue of Governors also. He pointed out that in the states where regional parties were power, there were problems due to the behaviour of respective Governors. There have been many examples of this; so, the central government has been requested to discuss this issue in both houses of Parliament. He remarked: “We are seeing how governments elected by the people in the country are causing trouble by not giving approval to the bills passed in the Assembly.”

He said that the way a minister was dismissed by the Governor in Tamil Nadu was discussed at the all-party meeting.

When there was a struggle on farmers’ issues, the Centerhad given many assurances. So, they asked for a discussion on other issues, including support price for farmers.He said that they wanted to discuss the issue of unemployment, rising prices of essential commodities and the pending Women’s Reservation Bill. The BRS would fight on these issues. They also wanted to discuss the issues of unemployment, inflation, prices, SC, ST minority and national census. He said that they would raise AP Reorganisation issues, including the setting up a coach factory.

Nama Nageswara Rao stated that at the all-party meeting, they had requested the Centre to give an opportunity to discuss the pending issues of Telangana. According to the bifurcation law, funds due to the state, pending projects and problems would be raised in parliament meetings. He said that Telangana was number one in all aspects of development. The fact that Telangana was number one in terms of power, grain production and per capita income would be highlighted in Parliament. He said that there would be a discussion on train accidents.

Nama Nageswara Rao said that the time of the meetings was given only for the approval of bills. Nama sought extension of the deadline of the meetings. BRS Parliamentary party leader K Keshav Rao and others participated.
