The main opposition BRS wants to utilise Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s government proposal on reorganisation of districts as a weapon to provoke people against the Congress. The reorgsnisation of districts may become a headache to the State government. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy feels that the previous BRS government has created new districts unscientifically for its political benefit. The previous BRS government had created 23 new districts in addition to the 10 erstwhile districts and brought the total number of districts to 33 in the State. In the name of better administration and development, the BRS government reorganised the districts. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, in an interview, commented that a judicial commission would be constituted to look into the issue. Naturally, the BRS will oppose the reorgsnisation of districts to reduce the present number of districts. The people will also express dissatisfaction if their district is removed. In fact, there was a demand from the people of several areas for the creation of a ew district for them.
Unde the circumstances, if the Congress government removes some present districts the people of those districts will get angry. The BRS wants to utilise this opportunity to provoke the people against the government. In the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh state also districts were reorganised. The Andhra Pradesh government made every Lok Sbha constituency as a district.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is also planning to follow the same method in the reorganisation of districts if not to reduce the number of districts to 25 or 26 from the present 33 districts. In fact, the population is not equal in all the districts. The State government found that in seven districts there is less population than six lakh and most of them have just one revenue division. The State government is facing the shortage of staff and with the increasing the number of districts it has become a further problem. The IAS and IPS officers are also not sufficient in number in the State.
Keeping all these issues in mind, the State government has proposed the reorganisation of districts. The BRS leaders says to bring the adminidtration close to the people, their government had created new districts keeping in the mind the demands of the people. Now the Congress government wants to set the administration away from the people.
