BRS President Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that he has learnt a lot from Maharashtra, which produced heroes like Babasaheb Ambedkar and Anna Hazare.
The CM said that the irresponsible policies followed by the governments of Maharashtra are the reason for the state’s problems.
He made it clear that the BRS will have no alliance with any party in Maharashtra.
On Monday, KCR had a meeting with leaders from Maharashtra at the Telangana Bhavan and he discussed ways to strengthen the BRS in Maharashtra.
KCR discussed the formation of committees in addition to the committees set up in the 288 Assembly constituencies, the establishment of BRS branches in villages and taluks across the state and taking the party to the Maratha people.
“In Maharashtra, the administration is deteriorating by the day. BRS is trying to bring about a qualitative change in the lives of people. Already in Maharashtra, the BRS is gaining public support. There they are discussing BRS even in villages. The Marathas realized that the parties that had ruled all these years had neglected development. The Telangana model of development is appealing to them,” said KCR.
In the first phase in Maharashtra, it has been decided to set up BRS offices in the four major cities of Nagpur, Sambajinagar, Pune and Mumbai.
Many leaders from Maharashtra joined the BRS on the occasion. The CM welcomed them into the party with pink scarves.
“We have to examine why Maharashtra is lagging behind. Dr BR Ambedkar is our inspiration. A 125-foot statue of Samathamurthy has been installed in Telangana. The goal of the BRS is to build the society that Ambedkar dreamed about. We did not do a show by putting up a 125-foot statue of Babasaheb. We have made it our duty to practice his principle of equality,” KCR said.
He said that India has a wealth of human resources unlike any other country in the world. But rulers lack the knowledge to use this wealth. That is unfortunate, he added.
“We limited women to cooking. That is not the right approach. Society will change only if women are given opportunities. 95 per cent of pilots in Russia are women. 70 per cent of the world’s countries involve women in development. Unfortunately, we are forcing women to the kitchen,” he said.
He said country cannot progress until Dalits and women participate in development.
“When I was an MP, President Barak Obama addressed the Indian Parliament. He started his speech by saying that if it was not for Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar, Obama would not have become the US President. That is Bharat Takhat. But, our rulers ignored them. Negligence, insincerity and ignorance haunt the rulers of our country,” he said.
