BRS MLA Harish Rao launched a no-holds-barred attack on the Congress government and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, while declaring that it was K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) who made Telangana a reality.
Addressing the Telangana Formation Day celebrations held at the Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, he reiterated that the BRS will fight the next elections alone.
“The BRS will not ally with the BJP, like some people are saying. We will come back with 100 seats and will not ally with anyone. Let there be no illusions,” he said.
He reminded the crowd that while the BJP and the Congress made tall promises, it was the BRS that ensured farmers, women, workers, and youth benefited from actual schemes.
He said that he will resign if Revanth shows the GO showing that Rs 21,000 crore was given as interest-free loans to women.
His address drew cheers from BRS cadres and repeated jabs at what he termed the “flop rule of lies and commissions.”
Recalling the early days of the Telangana Movement, Harish said, “Back then, when we raised the slogan ‘Jai Telangana,’ we were mocked. Today, even the Chief Minister celebrates Telangana’s birth anniversary, only because KCR made it happen.”
He described the 25-year journey of the BRS as a saga of struggle, sacrifice and triumph, adding that without KCR, Telangana state wouldn’t have seen the light of the day.
He said that it was KCR who stepped down from plum posts to lead the TG movement.
“He wasn’t wealthy or powerful, but his guts were unmatched. He resigned from posts that many people cling to. He gave up the Deputy Speaker post, MLA post, and the TDP’s State Secretary post to start from zero in 2001. That’s what leadership is,” he said.
Targeting Revanth Reddy, Harish said, “He never raised the slogan of Jai Telangana, never honoured our martyrs, and during the movement, he only brought Xerox papers while others resigned. He fled then and now acts as if he led the fight.”
Referring to Revanth as “Rifle Reddy,” he accused him of pointing guns at activists rather than standing with them.
He said the CM lied about women’s loans and job recruitment. “You say 60,000 posts were filled. Show us the GO, show us the list. You talk about paddy production. Who made it possible? It was KCR who gave power, seeds, irrigation, and procurement facilities,” Harish said.
Harish then challenged Revanth to admit that he had cleared only Rs 16,000 crore of the Rs 40,000 crore promised farm loan waiver.
He also criticised the Congress for failing to protect Telangana’s water interests. “If the state won’t act, we will approach the Supreme Court to stop Banakacherla,” he warned.
