District Collector Chadalavada Nagarani has urged beneficiaries to commence construction of houses on the sites allocated to them by the government.
A programme titled ‘Mana Illu-Mana Gowravam’ was held at the Vissakoderu layout near here on Saturday. Speaking at the event, Collector Nagarani emphasised the importance of taking full advantage of the housing scheme to build their homes.
Currently, 2,558 houses in the district are at the roof and lentil level, and beneficiaries are expected to complete these constructions by the end of December 2024. Additionally, there are 18,097 houses at various stages of construction that must be completed by March 2025. The Collector cautioned that the Central government would halt funding for the scheme after March 2025.
“A special officer has been appointed for each mandal, along with a layout special officer for each layout and a secretariat special officer for each secretariat. These appointed officers will oversee the construction of the houses. Essential materials such as cement, sand, and iron will be made available to the beneficiaries,” stated the Collector. She instructed the concerned officials to ensure prompt processing of bills without any delay.
MLA Pulaparti Ramanjaneyulu reiterated the government’s commitment to providing housing for eligible individuals and encouraged beneficiaries to utilise the scheme by building their homes as soon as possible. The MLA also announced that Housing 2.0 would be launched in April 2025. Housing Construction Department EE B. Venkataramana, AE Sambashiva Rao, Municipal Commissioner Ramachandra Reddy, and other officials were present at the event.
