Telangana Jagruthi President Kavitha, along with her supporters, staged a flash protest at the Bus Bhavan on Tuesday, strongly opposing the hike in bus pass fares.
The protest unfolded shortly after leaders and members of various political parties joined Telangana Jagruthi at its headquarters in Banjara Hills.
Soon after the meeting, Kavitha proceeded to Bus Bhavan, where a large gathering of her supporters had already assembled. The crowd raised slogans condemning the government’s decision to increase bus pass fares, calling it an unjust move against the public. As tensions escalated, the police intervened and took Kavitha into custody. She was later shifted to the Kanchan Bagh Police Station.
Addressing the media, Kavitha criticised the government’s anti-people decision, stating that the fare hike would place a huge financial burden on students, daily passengers, and low-income employees. She said the government had developed a pattern of exploiting the public for revenue generation.
“The state is passing its inefficiencies onto the people. This fare hike is nothing but extortion from ordinary citizens,” Kavitha said. She demanded an immediate rollback of the fares and warned that Telangana Jagruthi would continue its agitation until the decision is reversed.
