Cabinet berth likely for minorities too: Mahesh

TPCC chief Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud said they have requested the high command to give two more ministerial posts to BCs. There is a possibility of giving two posts to BCs during Cabinet expansion, he added.
He said there is a chance for minorities also while expanding the Cabinet and that the credit for helping BCs belongs to the Congress.
“There are some problems in Cabinet expansion. We have to consider regions, castes and other issues. The AICC will take a decision soon. We did not say anywhere that we would expand the Cabinet during Ugadi. The AICC will decide on the issue as it is in its purview,” Mahesh said.
TPCC chief Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud said that Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have taken their views, and the AICC will decide on Cabinet expansion at the appropriate time.
He criticised the Modi government for trying to do injustice to BCs in the name of Muslims and reminded that reservations are in place for Muslims in Gujarat too. They were in force even when Modi was the CM\, he said.
He said the Congress government in Telangana has passed a Bill in the Assembly providing 42 per cent reservations for BCs in all spheres.
Mahesh said the Congress had approved the implementation of the 42 per cent reservations with sincerity and that calculations have shown that OBCs constitute 56 per cent of the population in Telangana.
He said that leaders of 18 parties supported the dharna held by all caste groups and that he had met Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi and explained state issues.
He was angry at BJP leaders for not joining the Jantar Mantar dharna and clarified that the Telangana government and the Congress had approved 42 per cent reservations as promised. He demanded that the Centre should approve the 42 per cent reservation bill.
Mahesh asked BJP leaders to convince Prime Minister Modi to include the 42 per cent reservations for BCs in the Ninth Schedule.
He said that reservations based on religion have ‘not’ been given to anyone and asked whether Muslims were not a part of this country. He said that Muslims are among BCs, and reservations have been provided due to that.
