Can Thandel deliver the much-needed break to Chay?

Must read

Everyone is waiting for the film ‘Thandel’ that stars Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi. Top producer Allu Aravind is the presenter, while Bunny Vasu is the producer for this film directed by Chandoo Mondeti. Interestingly, this is the third film of both director Chandoo and Chaitanya combination. They earlier worked for two films, ‘Premam’ was a hit and then ‘Savyasachi’, a flop. For Naga Chaitanya, ‘Thandel’ is a very important one as his last few films didn’t do well at the box-office. His last proper hit was ‘Love Story’, directed by Sekhar Kammula.
Now, the actor is completely relying on this film to taste success. The film’s story is based on a real incident that happened near Srikakulam. So, the makers added slang and accent to the lead pair in the film. But when you watch the trailer of this film, you can easily come to know that they didn’t do their homework when it comes to the accent, say the critics. If you see ‘Pushpa’ and the sequel, Allu Arjun and the other actors in the film are completely perfect with Chittoor accent and they delivered it. They learned it for many days and it reflects on their dedication. But when it comes to the ‘Thandel’ trailer, it seems Chaitanya just read the dialogues given by the Srikakulam slang. So, we have to watch the entire film to see how they come up with the accent in it.
The same production house of Geetha Arts earlier made a film titled ‘Kota Bommali PS’ where the characters were supposed to speak in an Uttarandhra accent, but they spoke only 10n to 15 minutes in the film, and then they spoke normally. If the story’s backdrop is from a particular place, the beauty relies only if the characters properly render the accent of that place. Otherwise, you can make normal dialogues without any regional accent. Producer Bunny Vasu told in his earlier interaction with the media that he will give Rs 100 crore film to Naga Chaitanya with this. Apart from Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi has more star power in the film. She is popular not only in Telugu, but in other languages too. So the makers bank on her asking whether this film will give the first Rs 100 crore to Naga Chaitanya? We have to wait and see till its release.
Kannada film ‘Mathe Mungaru’ is also in the news as the film’s story is also on the same lines of ‘Thandel’. The film’s story is also based on a true story, where a man from Shivamogga district of Karnataka, served nearly 21 years in prison in Pakistan. ‘Thandel’ is from a sea backdrop and the Kannada film is with another backdrop. but the thing is in both these films, the protagonists were in Pakistan prison for many years.
