YSR Congress Muslim Minority leaders are voicing their objections to the BJP announcement of the cancellation of reservations for minorities. They have called upon TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and Jana Sena president Kalyan to clarify their stance on Muslim reservations.
Khader Basha, the president of the YSRC Minority Cell, questioned Chandrababu Naidu’s authority to toy with the lives of Muslims by endorsing the cancellation of their reservation.
He pointed out the BJP’s consistent rhetoric about scrapping Muslim reservations if they assume power and challenged Naidu to disavow those statements.
Referring to Union Minister Piyush Goyal’s recent remarks in Vijayawada, Khader Basha highlighted the BJP’s intent to revoke the Muslim reservations in Andhra Pradesh, criticising Chandrababu’s silence on the matter. He said that the Muslim community will not forgive Chandrababu Naidu for any misstep concerning their reservations, citing instances where Naidu pursued legal action against Muslims advocating for the implementation of promises made during the TD regime.
Khader Basha urged Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan, both formerly aligned with the NDA, to break their silence on the crucial issue of Muslim reservation cancellation. He accused Chandrababu of reneging on past promises, contrasting this with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s efforts, who has appointed 11 minorities to key positions in his government, including a Deputy CM.
Other minority leaders from the YSRCP also criticised Naidu and Pawan for their silence on the BJP’s decision to cancel Muslim reservations, demanding that these prominent leaders clarify their stance on the issue.
