With the Election Commission of India (ECI) set to release the election notification for Andhra Pradesh on April 18, candidates of major political parties are planning to file their nominations from the same day onwards.
The fourth phase of elections will be held on May 13 for 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha constituencies. The candidates of YSRCP, TDP-JSP-BJP alliance and INDIA bloc consisting of Congress, CPI and CPM are all set to file their nomination papers before the Returning Officers. They are busy fixing a date and time to file their nomination papers and consulting with Pandits and Vedic scholars to fix the better ‘muhurtham’.
TDP, BJP and JSP candidates are planning to file nominations on April 22 and YSRCP candidates, on April 23. CPI and CPM candidates are expected to file their papers on April 19 itself.
With just three days to go for the release of the election notification, the Returning Officers conducted meetings of political party leaders at their respective segments.
NTR District Joint Collector and Mylavaram Assembly constituency RO Dr P Sampath Kumar, Nandigama RO, RDO A Ravindra Rao and other ROs conducted the meetings on Monday. They explained the rules and regulations about the filling of the nomination papers. Particularly, they underlined the importance of Form 2B.
Also, they explained in detail the dates of filling the nomination papers and affidavit Form 26. The ROs made it clear that at the time of nominations only three vehicles per candidate will be allowed. Similarly, they will allow only four persons in addition to the candidate to enter the RO office to file the nominations.
The ROs told the political party leaders that they should open a separate bank account for each candidate. They further explained the appointment of polling agents and Form 8.
