Protesting against the carnage in Manipur, a candle rally was taken out here on Tuesday by activists affiliated to various organizations.
The activists organised a protest demonstration holding candles at the Collector’s office. CITU district president Kalam Subba Rao addressing the gathering, demanded the Centre to take steps to stop the violence in Manipur. He condemned the parading two women naked and gang raping one of them. He demanded to dissolve the Manipur government and take stringent steps to punish the culprits.
The trade union leader held the Central and Manipur state governments responsible for the mayhem in Manipur. The corporate are behind violence in Manipur as they want to plunder the natural resources including minerals of the state.
Narendra Modi and Amith Shah, who were responsible for large scale violence in Gujarat two decades ago, are responsible for the Manipur violence, he alleged. He deplored that 164 people have been killed and 300 churches have been destroyed during the last 300 months in Manipur. CITU city secretary T Mahesh, P Kalpana, Tambi Srinivasulu, agriculture labour union leaders K Venkateswarlu and other leaders were among those who participated in the candle rally.
