The police in Nagarkurnool booked cases against Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president A Revanth Reddy for making “derogatory comments” against the police. The police registered cases based on the complaint made by the Mahabubnagar Police Officers’ Association. Cases were registered against Revanth Redd at Bhoothpur in Mahabubnagar district also. The District Police Officers’ Association on Tuesday condemned “unsavoury remarks” made by TPCC president A Revanth Reddy against the district police, according to a release from the association. It may be recalled that Revanth Reddy, at a meeting of the party held at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad on Monday to induct leaders from other parties into the Congress, abused the police that he would thrash each and every policeman in the district and disrobed them if they implicate the opponents in false cases. The association president, in a release, said that the police are working hard day in and day out for the protection of the people, but those who are occupying top positions are making unsavoury remarks against the police condemning the remarks.

It said that such remarks would affect the morale of the police and their families not only in the state but also in the whole country. Irrespective of the party in power, the police work owing their allegiance to the law of the land and judiciary, but would not be cowed down by threats from any quarter, it said suggesting Revanth Reddy stop criticising the police system.
