Minister for Housing and Information & Public Relations, Kolusu Parthasarathy, reaffirmed the coalition government’s commitment to farmers’ welfare under the leadership of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. On the occasion of National Farmers’ Day, the Minister extended his best wishes to the farming community in the state.
Criticising the previous YSR Congress government as “anti-farmer,” Parthasarathy said that farmers faced immense difficulties during its five-year tenure due to inadequate subsidies, fertiliser shortages, and limited access to modern farming techniques. He highlighted that the current coalition government swiftly addressed these issues by issuing guidelines for micro-farming initiatives, ensuring subsidised agricultural supplies, and providing seamless access to fertilisers through cooperative societies. He emphasised that cash for paddy is now deposited directly into farmers’ accounts within 48 hours of procurement, an unprecedented step in ensuring financial support.
The Minister also detailed several reforms, including soil testing and report issuance, investment subsidies, digital farming through the e-crop and Krishi apps, pest and disease monitoring, and the introduction of drone groups for precision farming. Additionally, tenant farmers are being issued rights documents under the new Andhra Pradesh Tenancy Act, 2024.
Parthasarathy reiterated the government’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of farmers and its resolve to make agriculture sustainable and prosperous under the visionary leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu.
