Minister for Information Technology KT Rama Rao on Friday stressed the need for promoting caste-based professions. “Not only industrial houses of Tatas and Birlas, but also the caste-based occupations, too, should be given a boost,” he asserted.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is determined to strengthen the caste-based profession, he said, while addressing the gathering after unveiling the statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna, along with Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud here.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi government, KTR said, was committed to the welfare of all sections of people. “Irrespective of caste and religion, measures have been taken for the welfare of all sections of people, particularly the poor.”
The Minister pointed out that over 1000 Gurukula Schools were established across the State and Rs 1.25 lakh was spent on each student a year. Apart from it, the government was providing Rs 20,000 overseas scholarships to students who go abroad for higher studies.
The Minister recalled the armed rebellion led by Sarvai Papanna with a small force comprising 10 persons and ultimately succeeded in capturing Gokonda fort. The Minister described the war waged by Sarvai Papanna to safeguard his self-respect.
Paying tributes to Sarvai Papanna on the occasion of his 373rd birth anniversary on Friday, KTR said that the government had allotted two acres of land to the District Gowda Association and released Rs 2 crore to build the Association’s Bhavan.
The minister said that “the BRS government is “your government and it is enjoying power because of “your blessings.”
For the first time, the Gowda community persons who engaged in toddy tapping would be given safety ropes, he assured the toddy tappers. He described the BRS government as the government that works.
With the launch of the boating facility, tourism in Siricilla was promoted on the lines of the tourism in Papikondalu of East Godavari district, he compared.
Minister for Prohibition and Excise V Srinivas Goud expressed concern over the death of many a toddy tapper due to a fall from trees, but the then governments paid no attention to the problem. He appealed to the Gowdas to recall their condition in the combined AP. In the new state of Telangana, the Chief Minister gave priority to all castes and upheld the self-respect of the Gowda community, he said.
