Cathartic effect of media trial

When the chief is OK with winking at rules to sail with his political bosses just to be in their good books, those reporting to him cannot help working with pent-up emotions. They will have a cathartic experience only when their chief with cheap mentality is hauled over the coals.
Irrigation Engineering-in-Chief (ENC) C Muralidhar’s media trial during the recent presentation on the Kaleshwaram project was enjoyed to the hilt by suppressed officers even though it seemed unfair that politicians had arrogated to themselves complete authority to question an expert who perhaps had little leeway to have his say. A little bird told us that because of the ensconced ENC, his disgruntled subordinates and others may have willingly given vital inputs to the Congress leaders. They include those who had to retire without promotions and those who have been waiting for elevation for long. For newbies, the incumbent has been ENC for seven years and that too after retirement. The buzz is that soon after knowledge transfer he will be dropped like a hot potato.
