‘CBI must probe Rs 1,000 cr cotton scam’

The BRS has alleged a massive scam in the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procurement process and has accused the Congress Government of orchestrating a Rs 1,000 crore scam that has severely affected farmers.
Senior BRS leader Peddi Sudarshan Reddy demanded a CBI probe into the irregularities, stating that cotton farmers were systematically looted by a CCI officials, agriculture department authorities, traders and market yard officials.
Addressing the media, Sudarshan accused the Congress of exploiting farmers, stating that the government deliberately manipulated the procurement process to favour private traders.
“Farmers who were supposed to get Rs 7,521 per quintal as the Minimum Support Price (MSP) were forced to sell their cotton at Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per quintal due to loopholes created by corrupt officials,” he said.
