Keeping his promise, TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu is set to re-enter the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly as Chief Minister on Friday. Naidu, who exited the Assembly in 2021 after facing personal insults from YSRCP leaders, had vowed to return only as Chief Minister. True to his word, he will step back into the Assembly in that capacity.
The session will open with a homage by the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MLAs to NTR’s statue before entering the House. Chief Minister Naidu, TDP Ministers, and MLAs will pay their respects at the NTR statue in Venkatapalem. Naidu has instructed all TDP MLAs to arrive at Venkatapalem wearing yellow shirts by 9 am. This marks Naidu’s return to the Assembly after more than two and a half years, fulfilling his promise made on November 19, 2021.
The Assembly session will begin at 9:46 am on Friday. This will be the first legislative session since the TD-Jana Sena-BJP alliance took power. The session will span two days, during which newly elected MLAs will be sworn in, and a new Speaker will be elected.
Preparations for the session are complete, with Senior MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary set to administer the oaths as Protem Speaker. Chief Minister Naidu will be the first to take the oath, followed by the Deputy Chief Ministers. YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will take his oath as a regular member, lacking opposition status. The oath-taking will proceed in alphabetical order.
