A Central team is currently conducting a detailed inspection of the quality of concrete and rocks being used in the Polavaram Project, one of the nation’s key irrigation and infrastructure ventures.
Two expert teams from the Central Soil and Materials Research Station (CSMRS) are carrying out assessments on-site. On Tuesday, the teams examined the concrete mix and various sizes of rocks incorporated into the structure, focusing on key locations such as the Buttress Dam, the Diaphragm Wall (D-Wall) construction area, and the 902 Hill zone.
The inspection team comprises subject specialists Ravi Agarwal, Lalit Kumar Solanki, and Sandeep Danote. They thoroughly reviewed the materials, evaluating different grades of concrete and aggregates to determine whether they comply with the required quality standards for a project of this magnitude.
Officials from the Department of Water Resources, including D Srinivas, M Sriram Patel, R Durgaprasad, RV Chiranjeevi, V Jagadeesh, G Surendra, and John Karan, accompanied the central teams. Representatives from Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL), including GM Gangadhar and DGM Murali Pammi, coordinated and facilitated the inspection process.
These inspections underscore the central government’s commitment to upholding quality benchmarks and ensuring the structural integrity of the Polavaram Project, which remains crucial for the region’s irrigation and water management needs.
