The Union Ministry of Jal Shakti has called for a crucial meeting on December 2 to address pressing concerns regarding the sharing of Krishna river waters. The meeting, set to take place at 11 am in Room No 353, C-Wing Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, aims to tackle the existing tensions between the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on this critical water-sharing issue.
The notice, issued by Abhiram Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government of India, highlights the significance of the meeting chaired by the Secretary (WR, RD & GR). The primary focus is on resolving issues related to the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, a matter of paramount importance for the involved states.
Additionally, the agenda encompasses discussions on the transfer of operational control of Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and Srisailam Dam/reservoirs, along with all associated structures, to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB). The meeting, scheduled to be held in hybrid mode at Room No 412, Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi, underscores the urgency of addressing these complex water management issues.
