The Centre ‘decided’ to conduct a caste census after Telangana’s caste survey, BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar said.
He said that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi’s, position is that weaker sections will get justice only through the caste census.
Participating in the All India Congress OBC Round Table meeting at the India International Centre on Monday in New Delhi, Ponnam explained the caste census conducted by the TG Congress Government through a PowerPoint presentation.
He said that after the caste census, a law was passed increasing reservations in political, educational and other fields to 42 per cent to ensure social justice, and that all political parties supported it. AICC leaders, PCC presidents, OBC ministers, BC MPs, BC MLAs and BC leaders attended the meeting.
