CEO inspects strongrooms in Vizag & Srikakulam dists

state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mukesh Kumar Meena has emphasised the importance of adhering to stringent security standards in the strongrooms where the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are secured. He directed district officials to remain vigilant and prevent any untoward incidents.
CEO Meena, District Election Officer and Collector Dr A Mallikarjuna, and Police Commissioner Dr A. Ravi Shankar inspected the strongrooms on Saturday.
The inspection included the Visakhapatnam Parliament strongrooms and those of seven Assembly constituencies. Officials examined the locks and seals on the doors and confirmed the presence of CCTV cameras and other security measures. After the inspection, CEO Meena signed the log book and instructed the Collector to maintain three-layer security and continuously monitor the situation. Unauthorised persons must be strictly prohibited from entering the strong room area, and all precautions must align with Election Commission regulations.
Accompanying CEO Meena were District Election Officer Dr. Mallikarjuna, Police Commissioner A. Ravi Shankar, Joint Collector K. Mayur Ashok, and the AROs of the respective constituencies, along with other officials. Later, CEO Meena, along with District Election Officer and Collector Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon and District SP GR Radhika, inspected the strong rooms at Sri Shivani Engineering College in Srikakulam. He reiterated the need for vigilance to the staff. The inspection covered the Srikakulam Parliament and the strong rooms of eight legislative constituencies.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Tamim Ansari, Tekkali Returning Officer, Sub Collector Nurul Qamar, Zilla Parishad CEO Venkateswara Rao, DPO Venkateswara Rao, Returning Officers Dr. Bharat Naik, Ch. Rangaiah, Apparao, Lakshmana Murthy, Sudarshan Dora, Rammohana Rao, Tehsildars, and other officials were also present.
