Championing devolopment of Vizag, women’s uplift

With determination, she has embarked on a mission to highlight the welfare schemes implemented over the past five years, personally engaging with constituents across all assembly segments with pride and confidence.
In an exclusive interview with The Pioneer amid her busy schedule, Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi shed light on her deep connection with Visakhapatnam and her vision for its comprehensive development. Born and raised in the city, she fondly recalled her upbringing and educational journey intertwined with Visakhapatnam’s essence.
With two terms as an MP, Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi emphasized her advocacy for key projects aimed at driving the city towards progress. “Visakhapatnam is not just a place but a beacon of hope for our state’s future,” she said, echoing Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s commitment to the city’s development. She credited CM Jagan for recognizing the region’s potential and allowing her to serve her hometown.
Highlighting the importance of women’s economic empowerment, Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi praised CM Jagan’s welfare initiatives, including YSR Cheyutha, Amma Vodi, and YSR Sunna Vaddi scheme for women self-help groups, which have empowered women across rural and urban areas economically.
On the issue of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, she pledged to prevent its privatization, aligning herself with the sentiments of the local community who view it as a vital asset of Andhra Pradesh. She vowed to oppose any privatisation efforts in Parliament if elected as an MP.
Looking ahead to the upcoming elections, Botsa Jhansi Lakshmi expressed confidence in YSRCP’s chances of winning all Visakhapatnam Parliament seats. She attributed this optimism to CM Jagan’s reforms, especially in education, which have received international acclaim.
Emphasising Visakhapatnam’s key role in shaping the State’s destiny, she called for comprehensive development across all sectors. She sought the people’s support for all YSRCP candidates to propel the region towards unprecedented prosperity.
