TDP chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday, called Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy ‘a traitor of Rayalaseema region’. Speaking to media persons, Chandrababu said that the previous TDP government had spent Rs 12,411 cr orein five years on the projects in the region while the YSRCP had spent a meagre amount of Rs 2,011 crore so far.
He said that the monthly remuneration being paid to the Advisors to the Government and for publicity was higher than the amount spent in Rayalaseema, and demanded an unconditional apology from CM Jagan to the farmers of Rayalaseema.
He said that Telugu Ganga was planned by the then Chief Minister NT Rama Rao to overcome this distress and ensure that enough water be supplied to this region. After Telugu Ganga, he planned Galru Nagari and Handri Neeva to see to it that Rayalaseema became a fertile area, he said.
Chandrababu said, “After I came to power, Pattiseema was built to supply Krishna waters to Rayalaseema. A plan was formulated to supply water till Ichchapuram had the Polavaram been completed and this is nothing but the Srujala Sravanthi.”
Chandrababu said the TDP government had spent Rs 68,293 crore on all the irrigation projects between 2014 and 2019, while the YSRCP government had spent a mere Rs 22,165 crore.
Naidu said that CM Jagan had no knowledge on the importance of the irrigation sector. Jagan had admitted on the floor of the Assembly that steps would be initiated to supply Godavari waters to Srisailam and that his Telangana counterpart too had accepted the proposal.
CM Jagan is bound to give an explanation on these issues raised on behalf of the five crore people of Andhra Pradesh, he said.
