Chaos prevailed in the Kadapa Municipal Corporation council meeting held on Monday when a chair was not provided to MLA Madhavi Reddy on the podium.
As the Council meeting commenced, TDP Kadapa MLA Madhavi Reddy arrived at the meeting hall but found that no chair had been arranged for her on the dais. Furious over the omission, the MLA questioned why she, as the elected representative of the constituency, was not given a chair on the podium. Mayor Suresh Babu, a YSRCP leader, was present at the meeting.
MLA Madhavi Reddy engaged in a heated argument with the Mayor, accusing him of humiliating a woman MLA. She also criticised the YSRCP government for halting the development of Kadapa city.
The TDP MLA was seen arguing with the Mayor while standing in front of his podium, and soon, TDP corporators joined her in protest, leading to chaos in the council meeting. Both TDP and YSRCP corporators raised slogans, further intensifying the uproar. At one point, YSRCP and TDP corporators jostled each other. The YSRCP corporators then squatted on the floor, demanding an apology from the TDP MLA and corporators to the Mayor.
In an interesting turn of events, Mayor Suresh Babu suspended seven corporators for obstructing the proceedings. All seven suspended corporators had recently joined the TDP from the YSRCP. Amid the disruption, Mayor Suresh Babu adjourned the Council meeting, though the YSRCP-led Mayor managed to pass the meeting agenda. Later, MLA Madhavi Reddy and her supporters staged a protest in front of the municipal corporation office, raising slogans against the Mayor for not providing her a chair on the dais.
