The first bronze statue of noted writer and author of Telugu Bala Vyakaranam (grammar) Chinnaya Suri will be unveiled in Vijayawada on Friday, said P Vijayababu, Chairman, AP Official Language Commission. On the occasion, a model image of the statue was released. He also said that the commission would observe Telugu Language Day on August 29 to mark the 160th birth anniversary of Gidugu Venkata Ramamurthy.

Paravastu Chinnaya Suri Sahitya Peetham president T Sobhanadri praised Chinnaya Suri for his contributions towards Telugu language. Paravastu Chinnaya Suri was appointed the first Andhra teacher of Madras Presidency College. Albert Nutt, an English aristocrat, honored Paravastu Chinnaya with the title “Suri”.
