Chris Pine, the actor from Star Trek, didn’t hold back in voicing his frustrations about the delays in the possible fourth installment of the reimagined series. Chris Pine has played Captain Kirk in Star Trek for almost ten years since appearing in the third film in 2016. Even though fans have been patiently anticipating the fourth installment, Pine revealed that they have encountered some obstacles in getting Star Trek 4 started.
At a recent ACE Superhero Comic Con event, Chris Pine explained the causes of the fourth installment’s delays. Critics gave negative reviews to Star Trek Beyond, the third film in the revamped series.
Additionally, the movie did not succeed in making a significant impact on the box office, bringing in $343 million while having a production budget of $185 million. The franchise was put on hold due to negative reviews and disappointing box-office sales. There have been some whispers of a sequel over the years, but nothing has materialised.
Chris Pine suggested that studios should focus on satisfying die-hard fans rather than giving in to industry pressure for expensive productions to cater to a wider audience.
He said, “I think we should make films that appeal to people who want to see the film. I’m sick of trying to please people who don’t want to see what we do.” Chris Pine mentioned that the movie industry is overly concerned with making money back and big budgets are harming it.
He said, “We’re at a place where, to make a film, you make it for like $500 million. That’s half a billion dollars to make these films that you like. For it to be considered successful and for everyone to be paid back, you have to make extraordinary amounts of money. The metrics of it don’t seem to make much sense to me.”
