CII unveils plan for southern states’ economic Growth

Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region, Kamal Bali, has revealed an ambitious plan aimed at accelerating the economic development of the Southern States of India. Under the banner of “Transformation through Competitiveness, Growth, Sustainability, Trust & Globalisation,” the initiative sets a robust framework for transitioning South India@75 to South India@100.
Interacting with the media people, Kamal Bali underscored the pivotal role of growth enablers and outlined nine key tracks of focus. These tracks include People & Culture Rejuvenation, Holistic Sustainability & ESG, Tech Adoption & Digital Transformation, and Innovation & Startup Ecosystems. Highlighting Andhra Pradesh’s strategic advantages, Mr. Bali emphasized the potential of Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam as epicenters of growth within the state. He advocated positioning these cities as premier service hubs, leveraging India’s global prominence in the services sector.
CII reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, proposing the establishment of a Govt. of Andhra Pradesh – CII Joint Consultative Forum. This platform aims to bolster emerging industries, devise strategic frameworks, attract international investments, and foster government-industry partnerships to stimulate industrial growth.  Bali stressed the need to amplify manufacturing investments in the state, particularly in sunrise sectors such as Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM), Defence & Aerospace, Pharma & Biotechnology, and Electric Vehicles (EVs), with the objective of catalyzing the growth of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Dr. M Lakshmi Prasad, Chairman of CII Andhra Pradesh, highlighted the state’s potential in seafood exports. He emphasized the importance of nurturing food processing industries and enhancing storage infrastructure to augment Andhra Pradesh’s capacity for seafood production and export.
In response to the recent announcement of five Aqua Parks in the interim Union Budget, Dr. Lakshmi Prasad anticipated a transformative role for aqua parks in driving innovation and technological advancements in aquaculture.
He urged the State Government to support the establishment of an Aqua Park in Andhra Pradesh. Mr. NMP Jeyesh, Regional Director of CII Southern Region, echoed CII’s commitment to collaborative efforts aimed at fostering economic growth and sustainability across Southern India.
The comprehensive strategy outlined by CII Southern Region underscores the paramount importance of public-private partnerships and strategic investments in propelling the economic trajectory of the Southern States towards sustainable growth and global competitiveness.
