Hyderabad received heavy rains late on Sunday night bringing respite from the dry-hot spell. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD- Hyderabad) has predicted more showers for Monday and issued a yellow alert.
As per a report by IMD, Hyderabad, the six zones including Charminar, Khairatabad, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Secunderabad, and Serilingampally are expected to witness light to moderate rain. The department has also urged citizens to take precautionary measures.
Following the early morning showers, Rajendranagar recorded the highest rainfall of 52.3 mm; Shaikpet recorded a maximum temperature of 25.7 degrees; Khairatabad and Ameerpet, which recorded 40 degrees Celsius till Sunday, witnessed temperatures dropping to 25.9 degrees Celsius. An orange alert was also issued for Telangana for Monday.
Weather expert, T Balaji took to Twitter and said, “In the next two days, expect isolated – scattered rains with powerful heat. Later, May 25-27 will be mainly dry with only isolated rains. Again after May 27, pre-monsoon thunderstorms will pick up, but heat wave will also be there.”
Along with showers till May 24, he also predicted the resurgence of a heat wave from May 25 to 27.
