Municipal Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri underlined the need for efficient sanitation to protect the health of the people of the city. She warned of taking stringent action against the officials who found indifference.

The Commissioner conducted a surprise inspection to various places and saw personally the hygiene conditions. Speaking on this occasion, the commissioner said that the cleanliness of the environment is the guarantee of public health and directed the sanitation secretaries and inspectors to pay attention to such important sanitation works.

She said that complaints are being received from people about sanitation management in the city and from now on the officials will conduct surprise inspections.

She said that it was brought to her notice that some sanitation secretaries and inspectors were not attending duty during working hours. She warned that strict action would be taken against the workers, secretaries, and inspectors who are negligent in sanitation work during inspections.

She said that 100 percent household garbage collection should be done. She advised levying a fine on the street vendors who throw waste on the roads. The inspectors should pay special attention to the garbage’s vulnerable points, she told them.

The MHO was directed to send the daily schedule of the gang work division-wise, adding that along with sanitary supervisors, MHOs, and Deputy Commissioners, nodal officers would also be appointed to supervise the sanitation works.
