Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has emphasised that remarkable achievements in healthcare could be made by leveraging technology in medical science, enabling direct delivery of healthcare services to patients. He stated that medical science has now evolved into “MedTech” and urged medical students to master emerging technologies like deep tech. He highlighted the need to restructure the medical field with technological advancements to ensure treatments are accessible to patients even in critical situations, without necessarily requiring hospital visits.
The Chief Minister was addressing the first convocation of AIIMS Mangalagiri on Tuesday. Expressing happiness at being part of the event, he congratulated all the medical students present.
CM Chandrababu lauded the inspiring journey of President Droupadi Murmu, who rose from a tribal family in a remote village in Odisha to become the President of India. He recalled her progression from being a teacher to holding various prestigious positions such as professor, junior assistant, counsellor, chairperson, MLA, state minister, and Governor. The Chief Minister said her journey proves that with determination and hard work, anyone can achieve the highest positions in the country. The Chief Minister spoke about the government’s contribution to AIIMS Mangalagiri, noting that the state had allocated 183 acres of land in a prime location—a support unmatched by any other AIIMS in the country. Responding to the AIIMS authorities’ recent request for additional land for future expansion, the Chief Minister assured that another 10 acres would be allocated soon. He recalled that the foundation stone for AIIMS was laid during his tenure in 2018, with an investment of Rs 1,618 crore to establish a 960-bed facility.
He expressed satisfaction at the recognition the institution has achieved in just nine years.
The State government ensured essential infrastructure, including approach roads, national highways, electricity, and water supply to AIIMS. The Chief Minister assured continued government support in the future. He congratulated AIIMS Mangalagiri for providing medical services to patients at an affordable cost of Rs 10 and expressed his aspiration for the institution to rank first in the country, as it is currently ranked 8th.
CM Chandrababu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the central government’s support in establishing premier educational institutions in the state, including AIIMS, IIT, IIM, Tribal University, and Central University. He also mentioned plans to develop Amaravati city over the next three years with an investment of Rs 50,000 crore, aiming to make it a world-class city.
Before attending the AIIMS convocation, CM Chandrababu Naidu, along with Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan, welcomed President Droupadi Murmu at Gannavaram Airport, where she arrived to attend the ceremony.
