Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to take immediate measures to address the problems faced by various sections of people. On Tuesday, the CM held a series of review meetings with concerned ministers and officials at the Secretariat. The discussions focused on issues including the availability of sand in the State, the new sand policy, damaged roads, and the price control of essential commodities.
The Chief Minister emphasised that many problems faced by the people are a result of the previous government’s policies, and quick steps should be taken to resolve them. He instructed officials to prepare a necessary roadmap to address these issues.
Chandrababu asked the officers to study the prevailing situations in different parts of the State, evaluate immediate measures, and formulate long-term plans to resolve these issues. Initially, he reviewed the availability of sand and the new policy to be adopted. Officials detailed the results of policies implemented by the TDP regime between 2014 and 2019 and the losses incurred due to the new policies introduced by the YSRCP government. They informed Chandrababu that the construction industry had suffered significantly due to high sand prices, scarcity of stocks, and lack of transparency in the maintenance of sand quarries. The officials also briefed the Chief Minister on large-scale irregularities in sand supply and marketing, including the policies on online systems. “There was no proper assessment of sand mining quantities due to the lack of supervision,” they reported.
In response, Chandrababu directed officials to ensure the immediate availability of sand for the construction industry and to prevent stock shortages. He emphasized the need to control sand prices and develop a new policy for sand supply.
Reviewing the condition of roads in the state, the Chief Minister noted that many roads were damaged due to the negligence of the previous government.
He directed officials to prepare reports on the extent of damaged roads and take steps to repair them across the state. He also urged officers to study the latest technology available for road repairs. Despite financial difficulties, the State Government is committed to repairing the roads to prevent inconvenience for the public, he assured.
The Chief Minister also called for urgent measures to curb rising prices of essential commodities. Reviewing the current prices of essentials with officers from Agriculture, Marketing, and Civil Supplies, Chandrababu stressed the immediate need to reduce prices, especially of onions, tomatoes, rice, and other commodities.
He expressed regret that the existing Rythu Bazaars were not being maintained properly, thus failing to meet their intended purpose. Ministers Kollu Ravindra, BC Janardhan Reddy, K Atchen Naidu, and Nadendla Manohar, along with officials from the respective departments, attended the review meetings.
