Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is the mastermind blocking the expansion of the Cabinet, BJLP Leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy said. He asked why Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who handles the Finance portfolio, is not responding after the CM declared that the state is bankrupt.
He said that there are differences between the CM and the DyCM and that there were differences in the Cabinet over the CM’s comments regarding government employees. Ministers do not support the Chief Minister, he added.
During a chit-chat with journalists on Friday at his residence, Maheshwar said that the CM is trying to avoid implementing social welfare schemes and paying employee dues by declaring a financial emergency in the state and that other ministers are opposing the financial emergency statement. The council of ministers has split into two, he added.
He said the CM is opposing the policies of the Congress high command, and due to this, the CM’s image graph has fallen sharply in the eyes of the party brass.
The proof of this is that Rahul Gandhi, who came to Hyderabad a few days back, returned to New Delhi without meeting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The gap between the Chief Minister and the Congress high command is continuing, he said.
He said that Congress leaders are openly saying that Revanth Reddy’s comments will keep the Congress out of power for 10 years and that Ramakrishna Rao was appointed as the Chief Secretary with the idea of declaring a financial emergency.
He said the CM is not giving appointments to ministers and that senior ministers are facing problems, as all review reports are kept at the Chief Minister’s residence.
While supporting Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, to whom the high command had promised a ministerial post, the CM suggested that Malreddy Ranga Reddy should lobby for a ministerial post in the Rangareddy district quota. He also made senior Congress leader K. Jana Reddy write a letter to the high command, Maheshwar said.
While saying that the high command has promised Vivek a minister post, the CM sent all Madiga MLAs to New Delhi for another ministerial post, saying that Madigas should have equal status with Malas in the Cabinet, he said.
Maheshwar said the Chief Minister is strategically acting to prevent the expansion of the Cabinet by promoting all minister hopefuls and thereby confusing the equations.
“BCs have less representation in the Cabinet. If the Cabinet is expanded, BCs will have to be given four more berths as per the 42 per cent reservation formula. This means that Vakiti Srihari Mudiraj, Adi Srinivas, Beerla Ilayya and Veerlapalli Shankar have a
chance of getting minister posts.
Actually, the CM does not want to give four more minister posts to BCs. It was Revanth who ensured that BCs got fewer seats while distributing party tickets during the Assembly elections.
Ponnam Prabhakar from BCs should be given the post of Deputy CM, and Damodar Raja Narasimha from Madigala should also be given the post of Deputy CM. Bhatti Vikramarka is also blocking Cabinet expansion, saying that if the other two get the posts of Deputy Chief Minister, his importance will decrease,” Maheshwar said.
The CM does not want the Cabinet to be expanded. While working on expanding the Cabinet with the high command, he is behaving strategically to prevent its expansion.
