Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday issued a strong condemnation of Sakshi TV for broadcasting derogatory remarks against the women of the Amaravati region. The comments, made by VV Krishnam Raju on the channel owned by former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, referred to the capital as a “city of prostitutes,” sparking widespread outrage.
Terming the remarks “unforgivable,” Naidu said, “Ours is a culture that reveres daughters and worships the feminine divine. To insult our mothers and sisters under the guise of media analysis or political vendetta is a shameful and intolerable act.”
The Chief Minister expressed dismay at Jagan Mohan Reddy’s silence, stating, “It is deeply troubling that the former Chief Minister, whose media house aired such offensive content, has neither condemned it nor issued an apology. His silence amounts to complicity.”
Naidu emphasised that the remarks were not mere political rhetoric but a direct affront to the dignity of women—particularly those who had peacefully protested in support of Amaravati during the previous administration.
He warned of stern action against those responsible: “This malicious propaganda against women who stood up for justice will not go unpunished. Those who have crossed all limits will face the strictest consequences.”
Reaffirming his government’s stance, Naidu said, “The NDA government will protect the self-respect of every woman. We will not allow such vile discourse to be normalised in the name of politics or media freedom.”
He concluded by assuring the public that his government would act decisively to uphold the dignity and honour of women in Andhra Pradesh.
