CM hailed for holding WUA elections

Alla Venkata Gopala Krishna Rao, president of the Andhra Pradesh Water Users Associations’ Federation and vice chairman of the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal Project Committee, expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for conducting the elections for Water Users Associations. He urged the Chief Minister to allow the Project Committee Chairman to be invited to ZP and DRC meetings, and for the Mandal Parishad meetings to include Distributary Committee Chairmen and WUA Presidents for Gram Panchayat meetings, as was done previously.
In celebration of the New Year, Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal Project Committee Chairman Gopala Krishna, along with Distributary Committee Chairmen Kommareddy Rajesh, Pamarthi Srinivasa Rao, Devineni Satyanarayana, and Kosaraju Rambabu, met with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the TDP Central Office in Mangalagiri to extend their greetings. They also submitted a detailed report on the Water Users Associations to the Chief Minister.
Speaking to the media at the TDP Central Office in Mangalagiri, Gopala Krishna Rao expressed confidence that the irrigation department would achieve positive results with active farmer participation. He highlighted that the TDP government had reinstated the Water Users Associations for the second time in the state. He also noted that during the previous tenure of the TDP, an additional 90 TMC of groundwater had been stored. Under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Water Resources Minister Dr. Nimmala Ramanaidu, the three-tier Water Users Associations elections were conducted peacefully, he added.
