CM lays stone for Adani Data Centre

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation stone for the Rs.21,844-crore Vizag Tech Park, a subsidiary of Adani Group. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Adani Group representatives, ministers and senior officials.

Addressing the gathering here on Wednesday after laying the foundation stone, the Chief Minister said that the establishment of the 300-mega watt  (MW) Data Centre by Adani Group would facilitate the laying of a submarine cable from Singapore and help change future dynamics of the broadband services.

The Vizag Tech Park, coming up on 190 acres, will consist of a 200-MW Integrated Data Centre at Madhurawada and a 100-MW Integrated Data Centre at Kapuluppada, with an investment of Rs. 14,634 crore and Rs. 7,210 crore, respectively.

The Tech Park will provide direct employment to 39,815 people in a phased manner over seven years and indirect employment to 10,610 persons.

The Data Centre, consisting of IT business parks, skill development centres and recreation facilities, will boost up internet speed and improve the connectivity, he said, adding that it would also work as a game changer providing a major boost to the general development of the area.

The Data Centre will also help Visakhapatnam transform into a tier-1 city.  More significantly, it runs on green power, said the Chief Minister, adding its entire power needs would be met from renewable sources. The software industry will also get a big boost as it can fully capitalise on cloud services and facilitate more download speeds.

He thanked the Adani Group and its representatives for launching the initiative and establishing the biggest Data Centre in the country.

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Adani Group MD Rajesh Adani, CEO Karan Adani, IT Minister G Amarnath, Visakhapatnam MP MVV Satyanarayana, Medical and Health Minister V Rajani, Deputy Chief Minister B Muthyala Naidu, TTD Chairman YV Subbareddy, Special Chief Secretary to Government, Industries & Commerce Karikal Valaven and IT Secretary K Sasidhar and other senior officials.
