Chief Minister Chandrababu naidu presented the “Vikasit AP 2047” vision document outlining Andhra Pradesh’s development plan at the Niti Aayog meeting. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was part of the broader agenda “Vikasit Bharat-2047.” CM Naidu actively participated, in discussing funding and allocations for Andhra Pradesh.
Following the meeting, CM Naidu met with Union Jal Shakti Minister Chandrakant Raghunath Patil (CR Patil) to discuss key issues, particularly the Polavaram project. Recently, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expressed support for the Polavaram project during her budget speech in Parliament. The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet also expressed gratitude for the Centre’s commitment to fully cooperate on this project.
CM Naidu urged Minister Patil to approve the complete proposals for the Polavaram project’s construction, including the construction of a new diaphragm wall.
Later addressing the media in Delhi, CM Naidu emphasised the promises made under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, which include development initiatives for Amaravati, Polavaram, and the backward districts of the State. He recalled the Central government’s promise of special status to Andhra Pradesh, which was instead substituted with capital investment assistance. He highlighted the disparity in per capita income between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, which was Rs 30,000 at the time of bifurcation, noting that the situation has worsened over the past five years, with per capita income dropping significantly.
CM Naidu criticised the destruction of key projects like Polavaram and Amaravati and the exodus of industries from the State. He called upon the NDA government to fulfil its responsibility in restructuring Andhra Pradesh, emphasising the need for old dues to be settled. He condemned the politicisation of the State’s issues, noting that Andhra Pradesh has lagged in Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission initiatives over the past five years.
He also criticised the YSRCP government’s mismanagement, alleging that Central funds were diverted, a fact corroborated by Central government departments. CM Naidu stressed the urgency of releasing Polavaram funds by November.
Union Minister Rammohan Naidu and TDP MPs accompanied CM Naidu during these discussions.
