In a historic move for the Andhra Pradesh power sector, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is set to virtually lay the foundation stone for 28 APTransco substations across the State, along with a 750 MW solar project in Kadapa and a 100 MW solar project in Anantapur on November 28. This marks the first-ever virtual inauguration of such projects in the region.
Of the 28 APTransco substations, with a combined project value of Rs 3100 crore, 16 are prepared for the foundation stone-laying ceremony, while the remaining 12 are ready for official inauguration.
K Vijayanand, Special Chief Secretary Energy and CMD APTransco, underscored the need for planning and flawless execution by power sector officials to ensure the success of this prestigious inauguration and foundation programme. He urged officials to take swift action to adhere to the project timelines.
C,onsidering the imminent surge in electricity demand, the Andhra Pradesh power utilities are gearing up to fortify the power infrastructure. The objective is to meet the increasing demand and provide uninterrupted, high-quality, and reliable power 24×7 playing a pivotal role in driving the accelerated growth of the state economy and enhancing consumer satisfaction.
Special Chief Secretary Energy remarked, “The demand for electricity is escalating year by year. As a developing state, Andhra Pradesh anticipates substantial growth and urbanisation in the coming days, driving a manifold increase in electricity demand. This necessitates the strengthening of a 24×7 uninterrupted quality power supply and a robust, consumer-centric power sector.”
As part of the broader effort to enhance the power network for continuous high-quality power supply, APTransco is undertaking the establishment of power transmission infrastructure, including substations and connected power lines. The projects, totalling Rs 3100 crore, involve different capacities such as 132/33 KV, 220/132 KV, 400/220 KV, and 400/132 KV in 28 locations covering various districts including Kurnool, Nandyal, YSR Kadapa, Satya Sai, Prakasam, Guntur, Eluru, West Godavari, Konaseema, East Godavari, Kakinada, Anakapalli, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Alluri Seetarama Raju, Palnadu, SPSR Nellore, and Annamayya.
