Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has underscored the importance of development and public engagement during the District Collectors conference on Monday. Highlighting the contrast with the previous government’s actions, including the demolition of Praja Vedika, Naidu stated that this ongoing conference should mark the beginning of the State’s progress.
Chairing the first Collectors conference since assuming office, the Chief Minister directed officials to engage with the public on the 1st of every month through the ‘Pedala Sevalo’ (In Service of the Poor) programme.
He announced that a vision document for the State’s development would be released on October 2. Naidu criticised the previous government’s inefficiency, which he claimed had tarnished Andhra Pradesh’s reputation.
The Chief Minister called for frequent ground-level visits by IAS officers to address public concerns empathetically.
He urged the officers to heed the advice of local ministers and MLAs and counter false propaganda against the government through their social media accounts, disseminating accurate information that was beneficial to the public.
Naidu also instructed Collectors to create a district-level vision document and show visible changes within 100 days. He expressed confidence that the conference would pave the way for a better future, recalling his history of giving clear directions to Collectors since 1995. He projected that by 2029, Andhra Pradesh would become the third-largest economy in India, leveraging its historical advantages.
Reflecting on the economic growth post-1995 reforms, Naidu expressed optimism about India’s future as a global economic leader by 2047. He criticised the deterioration of systems under subsequent governments and lamented the challenges faced by the State in recent years.
The Chief Minister praised the public for their support of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the last elections and acknowledged the financial and administrative issues in rebuilding the State. He emphasized the need for hard work, innovation, and a global perspective among District Collectors to alleviate poverty and ensure sustainable development.
Naidu concluded by urging the Collectors to think creatively and work diligently with the slogan ‘Work Hard, Work Smart, and Think Globally,’ to create a positive impact and recognition for their efforts.
