Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday held a high-level video conference from the Command Control Centre with Ministers and Collectors, asking them to respond swiftly to the early arrival of the monsoon and to continue paddy procurement without disruption.

He also reviewed the Indiramma housing scheme, Bhu Bharati implementation, and Vaanakalam crop preparations.

Revanth said Telangana had recorded rainfall 15 days ahead of schedule and directed officials to act with prior planning. Acknowledging concerns from farmers about paddy procurement, the Chief Minister assured that the government is fully prepared to purchase every grain of paddy.

“This season, we’ve already procured 64.50 lakh tonnes of paddy, compared to 42 lakh tonnes last year,” he said. Of this, 90 per cent has been procured and Rs 12,184 crore has been paid to farmers, he said.

He said that Telangana produced 2.75 crore tonnes of paddy this year, the highest in the country, and praised the agriculture and civil supplies departments for their efforts.

The remaining four to five lakh tonnes with farmers should be procured smoothly, he directed, adding that 21 districts have reported successful procurement, while minor protests in 12 others should be addressed by field visits.

He cautioned against misinformation, citing an incident where a farmer’s death was falsely linked to procurement issues.

“Collectors must proactively communicate progress and clarify facts when false narratives arise. Take legal action if necessary,” Revanth said.

The Chief Minister also alerted the Medical and Health Department to stay vigilant as early rains may lead to a spike in seasonal diseases. He specifically asked collectors of agency and forest-region districts to focus on public health. With neighbouring states reporting COVID-19 cases, he asked all districts to adopt preventive measures.

On Vaanakalam, he noted that rainfall is already 29 per cent above normal and said agriculture officials must ensure the availability of seeds and fertilisers across the state.

Any black marketing or sale of spurious seeds must be dealt with strictly, he said, instructing officials to consider invoking the PD Act against habitual offenders. He asked Collectors to appoint special monitoring officers and conduct awareness campaigns among farmers.

Revanth also stressed the need to accelerate the implementation of Bhu Bharati, which he described as a farmer-friendly alternative to Dharani.

The CM announced that from June 3 to 20, the third phase of revenue conferences will be held across the state to raise awareness and resolve land-related grievances.

On the Indiramma housing scheme, Revanth called it a flagship initiative that would enhance the government’s image. He asked officials to finalise the list of beneficiaries by month-end and ensure the timely provision of free sand coupons.

He also ordered the formation of mandal-level price control committees to curb construction costs and advised exploring low-cost construction techniques.

He suggested loans through Rajiv Yuva Vikasam and Indira Mahila Shakti for brick and centering units, and said collectors should update construction progress on the app. Model homes should be showcased to beneficiaries, he added.

Revanth instructed in-charge ministers to tour their respective districts on May 29 and 30 to review procurement, Bhu Bharati implementation and crop planning.

He asked for detailed district-wise reports by June 1 and said a special meeting with ministers would be held at the Secretariat on the same day to finalise follow-up action.

He also directed that the State Formation Day on June 2 should be celebrated grandly in all districts.
