CM to lay foundation for over 50K houses today

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the construction of 50,793 houses in EWS Layouts by Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, accompanied by the development of essential infrastructure facilities.

Additionally, 45 social infrastructure projects will be initiated, all of which will be carried out at a total cost of Rs 1,829.57 crore. The momentous ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday at Krishnayapalem in Guntur district.
The event will commence with the CM’s departure from Tadpalli residence at 9.30 am, followed by his arrival at the Krishnayapalem housing layout. A plantation programme is also planned to enhance the greenery within the layouts and create a pleasant environment. As part of this initiative, 28,000 saplings will be planted and maintained in two phases, costing Rs 168 lakh.

The highlight of the ceremony will be the foundation stone laying programme for the houses. The CM will inspect a model house, demonstrating the quality and design standards for the upcoming constructions. Later, he will proceed to Venkatapalem and participate in a public meeting to distribute house grant documents to the beneficiaries. The day’s programme will conclude with the return to Tadepalli residence in the afternoon.

The Jagan Mohan Reddy government is firmly committed to supporting the less privileged and providing them with a secure and happy future.

Previously, on May 26, the government distributed 50,793 house sites to women beneficiaries free of cost in the CRDA region. Now, it is taking a step further by laying the foundation for the construction of houses on those sites.

Andhra Pradesh proudly holds the No. 1 position in the country for its outstanding progress in constructing pucca houses for the underprivileged. The government has empowered 30.65 lakh women beneficiaries by granting house sites worth Rs 76,625 crores in 71,811 acres, with proper registrations. Currently, construction on 21.25 lakh houses has commenced, amounting to Rs 57,375 crores, and approximately 25 percent of the houses are already completed.

The Housing department officials highlight that the government is investing Rs 32,909 crore in 17,000 Jagananna layouts throughout the State to provide essential infrastructure facilities like water supply, electricity, internet, drainage, sewerage, and roads. As a result, each woman beneficiary will possess a house site worth Rs 5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh, depending on the location. This initiative will amass assets worth Rs 2 lakh crore to Rs 3 lakh crore for women beneficiaries across the State. The rapid pace of construction showcases the determination to overcome any obstacles.

In addition to providing house sites free of cost, the Jagan government is offering financial assistance of Rs 1.80 lakh per unit for house construction, along with a loan of Rs 35,000 with ‘Pavala Vaddi. Furthermore, beneficiaries will receive free sand worth Rs 15,000 and subsidised rates on Cement, Steel, metal frames, and other building materials, amounting to an additional benefit of around Rs 40,000.

The government is dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of underprivileged women to have a happy home of their own. In line with this vision, 50,793 house sites with a market value of a minimum of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh have already been distributed free of cost to poor women under the ‘Navaratnalu – Pedalandariki illu’ programme, resulting in the construction of 50,793 houses at a cost of Rs.1,371.41 crore and infrastructure facilities at an expenditure of Rs 384.42 crore.

Additionally, the government will construct 45 social infrastructure projects, including 11 Anganwadi centers, 11 schools, 11 digital libraries, and 12 hospitals, at a cost of Rs 73.74 Crores, aiming to provide education and health services to the underprivileged.
