Deeply concerned by the damage caused by recent flash floods, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited the affected areas in Vijayawada on Monday to gather firsthand information. For over two hours, he toured almost every corner of Singh Nagar, engaging with residents who had been relocated to safety by boats or had evacuated voluntarily. The flood victims shared their ongoing struggles from the relentless rains that have battered their region for the past two days.
Residents informed the Chief Minister that many of their relatives are still suffering as their areas remain completely waterlogged. They noted, however, that food and drinking water were provided in the morning and that they were able to leave the waterlogged areas with the help of boats.
During his visit, the Chief Minister, who is personally overseeing the rescue efforts, immediately ordered the transfer of the elderly and infirm via ambulances. He expressed his sorrow over the difficulties faced by the elderly, children, and people with disabilities, and pledged to take urgent measures to restore normalcy.
The Chief Minister also announced that medical camps would be set up to assist those suffering from various illnesses, and assured the affected residents that the State Government would support those who have lost property due to the floods.
